So, I totally ran across a picture the other day of these things called smoothie bowls….what in the world are smoothie bowls?! I had no idea, but it sure looked delicious!
It turns out that smoothie bowls are all the rage on Instagram who knew – cause I found it on Pinterest. Regardless where you find it, they’re a bowl full of deliciousness.
I thought I would surprise Mr. Clucking It Up on Sunday morning with this bowl of yum with breakfast on the balcony. We got all of the critters fed and he went about his business until I called him up for some “brekkie”. I had made Taco Omelettes and Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowls and had them all set up on the table outside.
I have to admit there’s something pretty special about what we do. We had our morning coffee and breakfast watching over all of the farm animals. There truly is a romantic side to farming. It’s in the little moments when everyone/thing is waking up and clucking, cheeping, mooing and goating first thing in the morning. We get to enjoy each others company and see the beginnings of something pretty fantastic.
I’m presuming you are reading this just to get the recipe for these fantastic smoothie bowls – alright fine, I’ll get on with it. For the smoothie bowls that I made, I used about 3/4 of a container of fresh strawberries, a banana and a half, plain homemade yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla, chia seeds, rice krispie cereal, coconut, and sunflower seeds. Pretty easy right. At least it seems like it – it’s kind of a balancing act when you begin to put it together. I recommend putting on all of your lighter weight stuff first. Add the fruits just before serving.
What are your thoughts, smoothie bowls – yay or nay??
