Texas Trifecta Homestead Classes

We are still working out a few details for our Texas Trifecta homestead classes. In order to make the classes happen, we need at least 15 people per class. We will be there from Jan. 11th to the 18th (give or take a day), as soon as we finalize all of the class dates and locations, you will be the first to know!

Class Number 1 – Rug making

We will be teaching you just as we were taught how to make twined rag rugs – expect this class to be the longest. You will have the option to purchase a standard beginner rug loom or to upgrade to a deluxe version. (I personally use the deluxe version – mine has been the test loom in all versions and I think it works best for me. Pay no attention to the ties on my loom – it sometimes get carried like a backpack.)

Class Number 2 – Cheese making

We will cover each step in making Chevre (goat cheese). This is one of our favorite homestead cheeses and we use it for nearly everything. (Including our mashed potatoes – so yum!) This class you will have the opportunity to see a batch from the beginning incubation stage, the cut and hang stage, the salting stage and finally the eating stage (my favorite). You will also leave the class with detailed instructions, a package of cultures and cheesecloth for hanging.

Class Number 3 – Soap making

Goat’s milk soap is so fantastic for your skin and we’re willing to show you how to make your own. We will go over some safety precautions (lye is to be respected!) and the basics of making a good quality soap. Most of you probably already have the majority of ingredients in your home. You will leave class with a full set of instructions, tips and some soaps.

Includes all 3 classes, choose from the standard or the deluxe and these will be the looms for the rug class.
