Root Cellar Workshop
$125.00
Are you concerned about your food storage? What happens if we lose electricity for a long period of time? Can you handle that?
If you are faithful, I will fill your storehouses – test Me on this ~ Numbers 18:21 (paraphrased)
But I don’t have a storehouse! Don’t worry, join us for this two day workshop on building an earthbag root cellar to help preserve and store food without refrigeration.
Root cellar:
A root cellar or earth cellar is a structure, usually underground or partially underground, used for storage of vegetables, fruits, nuts, or other foods. Its name reflects the traditional focus on root crops stored in an underground cellar, which is still often true.
Follow me down the hobbit hole for a minute:
You’ve had the most abundant garden you’ve had in years. You have filled front seats with zucchini during zucchini season. If you have to eat another tomato it might bring you to tears. Shucked corn until the front porch was buried under husks. The summer was spent bottling, canning and preserving the harvests. There’s onions, carrots, beets, cabbages, winter squash everywhere. Now, it’s mid-winter, not a tomato to be found. A simple shopping trip to your very own backyard grocery finds you in heaven. All of the home-grown goodness, love, patience, and flavor-explosive goodness is right there. Your mind wanders to the days of shucking that corn. To when zucchini was too abundant. This is good, this is wholesome, this is from your storehouse.
Sound too good to be true?
It’s not! Join us for our two day workshop on building an earthbag root cellar. We will take you through each step of the building process. Why we have chosen the design and the building materials. You do not need any building experience.

Limited primitive camping could be available. (We’re still discussing that.)

We will provide drinks (water, tea, etc.) and snacks throughout the day. Bring a sack lunch. We will provide a farm dinner.
