What can I say, we go from one adventure to the next. Last weekend we had a little wedding, did a little rappelling (only 300 feet) and so this weekend why not hit up the Panguitch Hot Air Balloon Festival….
Steven and I have been 3 or 4 years in a row, but our BFF Ronda has never been to one. So, she’s kind of a “virgin” – ha ha ha. She was in complete awe as the balloons lit up down Main Street in Panguitch.
Panguitch is a VERY small town in Southern Utah – population 1,600. Mostly farms and agriculture dot the landscape. However the last weekend in June they put on a festival like no other. This year there were 36 hot air balloons and it brought approximately 10,000 tourists to this tiny one horse town. Seriously, there’s still only 1 traffic light and Main Street is still a “Main Street”. It’s a sweet little town that should be in an old movie (and probably is).
We had the girls with us and they loved all of the street music and dancing. Charlee and I even snuck in a little swing number.
We couldn’t have asked for better accommodations for this rendezvous. The girls slept in the tent, Ronda in the car (by choice), Steven and I slept under the stars beside the fire pit and woke up with a view like no other. This is truly a perfect piece of paradise. Last summer we built a tiny house here for our good friend and neighbor.
If you happen to be in Panguitch, Utah next summer, look us up. I’m sure we will be at the next Panguitch Hot Air Balloon Festival. It’s a great time for the family or whoever you happen to be with.
