Beekeeping in the Spring of 2015

This is a subject I am so excited to begin. We are looking to begin beekeeping in the spring of 2015. We have a friend over at Redstone Queen Bees that is going to teach us what we need to learn.

He has recommended that we start with picking up a few books and start reading. So, I went to our local library and guess what the selection on beekeeping is quite small (what would one expect from a library in a town with a population of less than 5,000?). They had two books; Beekeeping for Dummies and The Backyard Beekeeper. Rob has recommended that we get Fifty Years Among the Bees. That will be next on the list for when I finish The Backyard Beekeeper.

Stayed tuned for part two of beekeeping in the spring of 2015. We will be attending some local classes on beekeeping and things to plant in the garden to help the bee hives.
